Leave your bow ties and high heels at home, roll up your sleeves, and prepare for some typical desi, or Indian, dining. But Nandu's is not your conventional restaurant. This small vegetarian eatery sells amazingly good, fat, sizzling, vegetable-stuffed parathas served with yogurt and a dollop of butter. You can't go wrong here. Stuffings include peas, cauliflower, potatoes, onion, fenugreek, and paneer. The corn or bajra (millet) rotis are also worth a try. The shady outside seating area is a pleasant enough place to chomp down the divine food. Come either for lunch or for an early dinner—hungry locals pack the place by 9. No alcohol is served.
