Spice Island
Spice Island Review
This restaurant at Pune's top hotel is the fanciest in town. Dining here is an extravagant affair—the restaurant is decorated with East Asian paintings and gold trim although it does not have a very Oriental look. You enter through a bar, a monument by itself, carved from glass and glowing with blue light. The dining room beyond, decorated with east Asian paintings and trimmed with gold, is intimate and classy, decorated in deep beige and dark reds. Tasty and innovative Chinese food is served, but it's the excellent Thai dishes that are recommended. Try the pan-fried river prawns, massaman platter, "jaded" fish (fish marinated with cilantro and then fried), Thai corn cakes, Konjy crispy lamb, or fried spinach. Dress nicely (no jacket and tie required, however).
