This nine-story, zero-atmosphere hotel is a decent, low-frills bargain. Accommodations vary widely, however—opt only for one of the 10 renovated deluxe rooms. These rooms, done in cream, have shiny tile floors and in-room amenities; the cheaper rooms are rather shabby. Most deluxe rooms have window air-conditioning units, but several are centrally air-conditioned. The bathrooms attached to the deluxe rooms could be cleaner, but are passable. Request an eighth-floor room with a distant view of the Taj Mahal hotel and Gateway of India—many rooms have either no view or views of something depressing. The restaurant serves Indian and Chinese food. Also ask about rooms at Godwin's sister hotel, Garden, next door. Some rooms have tubs, others only showers. Pros: cheap but not that cheap, well located. Cons: shabby rooms.
