Founded in 1871, this is one of the city's oldest Irani-run restaurants and a favorite tourist haunt, open from 8 AM to midnight. With an international, eclectic, sometimes outlandish clientele, it's a great place to people watch. The tables are well spaced, the furnishings simple, and the paintings and posters recall a French café; at the side is a fruit bar lined with mangos, oranges, and pineapples. The selection of tandoori, Continental, and Chinese food is broad, the portions are large, and the milk shakes are delicious. The menu, like many menus in Mumbai's smallest restaurants, has an astounding number of entries (319 in this case).
