Hand-blocked murals on the ceiling, traditional toranas (ornamental carvings above temple entrances) on the walls, and other Rajasthani decorations provide a cozy but simple setting for tasty vegetarian Rajasthani and Gujarati thalis. Chetana includes a variety of thalis to its repertoire—including low-cal Gujarati, mixed Gujarati and Rajasthani, and a traditional village version. Sample à la carte dal bati (lentils with wheat cakes), kadhi (curd curry), dal dhokli (a sweetish lentil-based pasta stew), farsan (snacks of the day), theplas (chickpea and fenugreek parathas), and mint raita (a spiced yogurt dish). If you're not enamored with Gujarati cuisine, there are also some standard Punjabi dishes. Service is excellent, and the owners' adjacent philosophy bookshop-craft store is worth a visit after your meal. Note that the restaurant is closed between 3 and 7.
