The ITC Welcomgroup of hotels has always been praised for its food, and the Dakshin, Bukhara, and Dum Pukht "brand" restaurants in various hotels throughout India are favorites. In the chain's newest Mumbai hotel, which towers over central areas of the city, ITC serves dishes from all three restaurant menus, as well as a few more. In this airy and very large space, exotic Central Asian carpets and large mounted water pots decorate the walls. There's a view of the kitchen and of the chefs masterfully whipping up soft and flaky naans and rotis and grilling tender kebabs. The paneer tikka is exquisitely marinated and succulent, as are the galouti (literally, "melt-in-your-mouth") and kakori kebabs (from Kakori, near the kebab capital of Lucknow in north India). If you don't want to be forced to check into the hotel for a wildly expensive nap, take care to chomp in moderation or the heavy food will leave you comatose.
