Luxury and stellar service are the hallmarks here—every floor has a butler who will make reservations, collect your laundry, shine your shoes, supervise the room cleaning, and bring you chocolates. The Oberoi was closed for renovations for 18 months after the terrorist attacks of 2008, in which 32 guests and staff were killed, and new features include a red grand piano in the otherwise stark-white lobby (reviews have been mixed), and the restaurant, Ziya, by internationally acclaimed Indian chef Vineet Bhatia. In a country where service can be overzealously uninformed, this is a welcome respite—diligent, subtle...simply perfect.
