Members of any yachting association affiliated with the Royal Bombay Yacht Club (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg, Apollo Bunder, 400001. 22/2202-1880. www.royalbombayyachtclub.com) can charter a boat for local sailing, October to June. The club also offers visiting memberships for a reasonable Rs. 281 per week.

With Drishti Adventure Sports (H2O Water Complex, Marine Drive, next to Chowpatty Beach. 22/2367-7546 or 22/2367-7584) you can take a ride in a speedboat along Marine Drive (Rs. 175 for half an hour), a daytime bay cruise (Rs. 170), or a night cruise (Rs. 280). Boats can carry up to six people; small children are not permitted. The service is not open during the monsoon.
