At the quiet end of busy Petercelle Street, this simply furnished hotel inside a 1700s Dutch building has earned raves for its reasonable rates and good-looking rooms, furnished with two-poster beds and other characterful wood furniture. All rooms have balconies, and there's an open-air terrace on the roof with pleasant views of the town around you. Although the Raintree has little else in the way of frills (you have to go down the road for a meal, for instance), the warmth of the owner and his staff keeps travelers happy and ready to return. Be sure to book ahead in high season.
