This spotless homestay is wildly popular with budget travelers, in no small part because of the warm, knowledgeable, and extraordinarily helpful hosts who can arrange for great English-speaking taxi- and auto drivers. Their home, a centuries-old Portuguese mansion, is tucked away in a quiet corner of Fort Cochin. Guest rooms, in a newer wing of the house, are very large, clean, and simply furnished with ceiling fans. Be sure to reserve in advance.
