Ayurveda is the focus of this soothing resort on the shores of Ashtamudi Lake. Even without undergoing treatment, you can expect to find peace here, where Chinese fishing nets flicker like a mirage in the morning mists that rise off the silvery lake. Manicured lawns and well-kept hedges on the grounds are brightened by splashes of bougainvilla. A series of two-story white chalets lines the waterfront. Rooms are spacious and equipped with LCD televisions and DVD players, coffeemakers, and cane furniture; each has a balcony with a lake view. Home-style food in the open-air restaurant is made to order. After taking over the resort, Club Mahindra completely remodeled it in 2007 with hopes getting a five-star designation from the government. Because Mahindra club members have first dibs on rooms, reserve at least 15 days in advance.
