Simplicity rules the day at this coconut plantation hideaway near the starting point of the Nehru Cup Snake Boat Race. It consists of just four cottages, made entirely of bamboo—walls, ceilings, doors, and windows. Furnishings are basic but comfortable; bathrooms are attached to the room but have a partially open roof. The charm here is in the hammocks, the home-cooked food, the friendly staff, and the idyllic setting. Plans were underway to open two large, high-end rooms by the end of 2007; those rooms will have televisions, air-conditioning, refrigerators, intercoms, and luggage space, all for about Rs. 2,500.
