Karnataka and Hyderabad Hotel Reviews

Mysore, Hyderabad, and the affluent state capital of Bangalore have sumptuous hotels set in verdant tropical gardens. Since 1954, when the princely state of Mysore was incorporated into India, some of the maharaja's numerous summer palaces have been converted to luxury accommodations for travelers, including elegant restaurants in former grand ballrooms. All three cities also have some excellent hotels with more moderate rates. Options in smaller towns are fewer.

Unless we indicate otherwise, all hotels have central air-conditioning. In addition, many luxury hotels have floors with higher-priced rooms that come with special privileges or facilities.

Karnataka lodgings sometimes charge a 10% service fee, and the Indian government tacks on another 12% or so "luxury tax," depending on the facilities. But make sure you look into discounts, because you can often get reductions on the rack rate, especially in the off-season; alternatively, opt for a package deal.
