The brackish Pangong Tso and Tso Moriri (tso means "lake") in the eastern district of Changthang are astonishing alpine bodies of water. Both lakes are accessible by road from Leh between late May and late October. Road trips to Pangong Tso (159 km ), which lies to the northeast, cost about Rs. 5,000, and those to Tso Moriri (225 km ), which lies to the southeast, set you back Rs. 6,500.
