Goa's topography varies between beaches, jungle, and rich farmland. Much of the country's development is along the coast, where you'll find all the resorts Goa is famous for, plus the two major towns—Panaji in central Goa and Margao in the south. Also along the coast are scores of paddy fields, coconut groves, and small towns. Head inland for the natural sights, including waterfalls, bird sanctuaries, and temples ensconced in dense palm jungle, all easily navigated as long as you have a good guide. Much farther west, toward Karnataka, are the mountains of the Western Ghats, and the lush rain forest that has developed from the rainwater that collects here from the monsoon that sweeps inland from the coast. Note that in addresses the terms wadi, waddo, and vado all mean "street." More »
