Maharani Guest House

Fodor's Review:
Friendly service redeems this simple Sundar Nagar guest house; the staff are eager to please their international guests. Rooms are slightly shabby, and some of the various decorating schemes are dated to the point of hilarious kitsch, but everything is clean. Twenty-four-hour room service tries to compensate for the lack of a restaurant, and the garden is pleasant in winter. You're close enough to walk to Sundar Nagar Market and a short drive from Khan Market and the sights of Central Delhi.

Be aware of Tour Operators associated with Hotels

We could like to advise visitors to Maharani Guest House to be aware that the manager has contacts with tour operator by the name of Mukesh Chawla (of All India Tourist Centre) and encourages guests to leave Maharani and go to the hotels that Mukesh Chawla has some interests in and also be aware of this guy Mukesh Chawla who will give the big talk and try to sell you tours at unreal prices We taken in by his talks and forked out US $750( but actually paid US$500 after threatening to report him to the Indian Tourist Office at Delhi Arport)After touring Mumbai and paying for tourist guides and accomodation there, we found out what ignorant travellers we were to be taken in by a louse like Mukesh Chawla. While in India, our repeated requests to meet with the Owner,Geeta, of Maharani were denied, excuses were always given whenever we tried to reach her. We don't think that she's aware of this going on at her guest house. Just wanted herto know that Mukesh and her Manager are moving her guests to other hotels that they some interests in or maybe are paid commision for this action.
