Spice Route
Spice Route Review
Designed by the flamboyant Rajeev Sethi and seven years in the making, Spice Route is known internationally as an aesthetic experience. Each section focuses on a different stage in life (relationships, wealth, etc.), and every inch of the walls and ceiling is hand painted with corresponding scenes from ancient epics. Antique rosewood and teak columns add to the enchantment. The clever menu gathers cuisines from the lands of the ancient spice route—Kerala, Sri Lanka, Myanmar (the former Burma), Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Sri Lankan curries are surprising and delicious; you might also find Kerala-style prawns stir-fried with coconut, curry leaves and black tamarind and flavored with mustard seeds, or Thai-style lobster stir-fried with ginger and black Thai mushrooms.
