What was once one of the most cutting-edge eateries in town is now advertised on campy billboards around the city. Though the hip factor may have faded, top-notch versions of hearty Punjabi classics like murgh Punjabi masala (the house chicken curry), dal makhni (black lentils with butter and cream), and raan-e-Punjab (a tender whole leg of lamb grilled just so) make up for it. In true Punabi style, the over-the-top purple and gold decor remains, as does the most popular gimmick: golgappas (fried dough containers) filled with vodka instead of traditional spicy water. The upstairs lounge, which favors loud house and trance music, is a fun place to have a drink while waiting for a movie at the nearby PVR Priya.
