Fodor's Expert Review Maidens
7 Sham Nath Marg, New Delhi, National Capital Territory, 110054, India
Run by the Oberoi group, this is one of the city's oldest hotels, occupying a classic Raj building, with high-arched windows, deep verandas, grand old trees, pleasant lawns, and a quirky interior with huge rooms and bathrooms. Opened in 1903, before New Delhi even existed, this is outside the boundaries of Old Delhi, but with a Metro station adjacent, it's a speedy, air-conditioned ride from both Old Delhi and Connaught Place.
PROS
- coffee shop has a nice patio and an English feel, especially when British tour groups are in residence
- renovations have brightened up the rooms
- add on free breakfast for a slightly higher room rate
CONS
- even with the metro, you are removed from the rest of the city
- food and beverage options are limited
- a long drive from the airport
