Passports & Visas

You must arrive in India within six months of the date your visa is issued. If you need to extend your visa, visit the Foreigners' Regional Registration Office or any of the Offices of the Superintendent of Police in the District Headquarters.

U.S. Citizens

All U.S. citizens, even infants, need a valid passport and a visa to enter India for stays of up to one year. Visas can be obtained from the Indian embassy or consulates or through travel agencies. The cost is $40 for 3 months, $60 for 6 months, and $70 for one year.

Canadians

You need a valid passport and a visa to enter India for stays of up to five years. Visas can be obtained from the Indian embassy or consulates or through travel agencies. The cost is $30 for 3 months, $55 for 6 months, $70 for 1 year, and $140 for 5 years.

U.K. Citizens

Citizens of the United Kingdom need a valid passport and a visa to enter India for stays of up to 6 months. Visas can be obtained from the Indian embassy or consulates or through travel agencies. The cost starts at £13 for three months.
