The most manageable, and probably the most colorful, walks in Bombay center on the Fort district. If Bombay is the first stop on your first trip to India, remember that sightseeing here is nothing like touring, say, Europe -- the streets are packed, some lack sidewalks, traffic takes many forms, crosswalks are a rarity, and people may stare or call out to you with sales pitches as you pass. Stopping to take a picture can make you feel terribly conspicuous. You'll get used to it soon enough, however, and will quickly learn to revel in the whole masala whirlwind.
