Found past an illuminated Mughal courtyard and the hotel's grand marble lobby, this intimate den celebrates local craftsmanship, with square pillars of red sandstone and white marble and carved wooden screens. Through the glass wall of the kitchen you can watch the chefs at work. The menu emphasizes the frequently elaborate and rich Lucknowi cuisine. Specialties include tandoori raan (leg of lamb, marinated for nine hours, then cooked crisp in a tandoor oven with Indian
spices). The tandoori prawns, marinated in citrus-flavored yogurt, are good, too. Live instrumental music, including performances on the dulcimer-like santoor, adds to the mood throughout the week. Note that there are just two seatings per night.
