Ürümqi
Air Travel
Many people fly to Ürümqi from Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, or Xian to begin a journey on the Silk Road. The airport is 20 km (12 mi) north of the downtown area, and can be reached by taxi (about Y40) in 30 minutes or via frequent minibuses.
