If you think dumplings are just an occasional snack food, think again. De Fa Chang, one of Xian's most famous restaurants, is known for its dumpling banquet. Do try the pan-fried guotie, stuffed with pork and chives and the suan tang shuijiao, dumplings in spicy and sour soup. For the dumpling banquet, head upstairs and choose between the preset menus. The buffet is not open in the afternoon between lunch and dinner, but considerably cheaper à la carte dishes can be found downstairs. Order at the counter or just grab a plate as a cart passes by your table and be ready to pay on the spot. The restaurant can be a bit tricky to find; walk along the front of the building facing Xi Dajie, past the shops selling trinkets and antiques to the end of the row.

How many tasteless dumplings can you eat before putting down your chop sticks and saying, let me out of here?
