Working behind a small table, Meng Hui is not your average calligrapher. His work, on scrolls and fans, is the sort that Confucius might have appreciated. After a car accident cost him his right arm, he learned how to paint with a calligrapher's brush strapped to his right shoulder. His work is in demand, and is often bought by tourists from Beijing and Shanghai. Despite all the attention he receives, his fees are very reasonable. The artist can be found most nights on Xi Jie selling scrolls and paintings from his bicycle.
