Cangshan

Fodor's Review:

With a peak that rises to more than 14,765 feet, Cangshan (Green Mountain) can be seen from just about any place in Dali. A 16-km (10-mi) path carved into the side of the mountain halfway between the summit and the old town offers spectacular views of Dali and the surrounding villages. There are also several temples, grottoes, and waterfalls just off the main trail. If you don't want to climb several thousand feet to get to the path, there is a cable car (more like a ski lift) that will take you up and back for Y60. To get to the cable car, follow Yuer Lu to the foot of the mountain. In 2006 a new Y30 charge was added for ascending the mountains in any way, bringing the cost of taking the cable car up the mountain to Y90 and footing it to Y30.
