Fodor's Review

In the northwest section of Chengdu stands the 49-foot-high, 262-ft-diameter Tomb of Emperor Wang Jian, which honors the ruler of the Kingdom of Shu from ad 847 to 918. Made of red sandstone, it is distinguished by the male figures that support the platform for the coffin and the carvings of musicians, thought to be the best surviving record of a Tang Dynasty musical troupe. There are a lovely park and teahouse on the grounds, both quite popular among locals.
