$$-$$$$, Luwan
Fodor's Review:
Nestled deep in a residential section of the Former French Concession, this offshoot of the Ruijin Hotel is a tranquil retreat from Shanghai's hustle and bustle. Once the residence of George Marshall (and the former stomping grounds of Madame Mao), the lush grounds surrounding the restored villa and the adjacent serviced apartments are planted with lush magnolia and palm trees. Rooms feel a bit worn, but are nonetheless charming, with spacious high ceilings and deco furniture. Be sure to take time to relax over a cup of tea on the porch overlooking the expansive lawn.
