This is a restaurant that must be experienced to be believed. Perched on the 36th floor of the Shangri-La tower, the Jade lounge/restaurant is simply beautiful, and offers great views of Pudong. There is no à la carte menu; instead, diners choose from a selection of set menus named simply by colors and sizes. The cuisine is innovative and extremely fresh, the service impeccable, and the view pleasant. Menus vary from five to eight courses, with an emphasis on fresh seafood and tender meats. The jumbo shrimp in a jar is especially enjoyable, as is the signature lemon tart. It's an expensive indulgence, but worth every penny.

    A personal favorite of mine. Dunno RE the 'set menus only' per the editorial - have been here 4 times over the last year and always ordered a la carte. The service is low key and unobtrusive, just the way it should be; and yet the servers remember you from your last visit (in my case over a year had past). About the view - great Bund views aren't that hard to come by - but spots for quiet, understated luxury are. Also adore the Cantonese restaurant on the opposite end in the river tower of the Shangri-La.
