Jinjiang Hotel Review

The former Cathay Mansions, Grosvenor Gardens, and Grosvenor House are now known collectively as the Jinjiang Hotel. It's here that President Nixon and Premier Zhou Enlai signed the Shanghai Communique in 1972 and all lobbies display photographs of the heads of state who have graced the hotel's grounds, giving the establishment a wonderful air of history. The fabulous luxury suites in the Grosvenor House start at $800 nightly. Rooms in the 1929 Cathay Building are plain but fair-sized with separate showers and tubs. Deluxe rooms are more stylish. The five-floor Cathay Garden, which reopened in 2005 after extensive renovations, now houses the hotel's best nonsuite room, with guests praising the spacious modern deco furnishings and deep-soak bathtubs. For the best view, snag a room on the fourth or fifth floor.
