The Grill

The Grill Review

Part of the Hyatt's three-in-one, open-kitchen restaurant concept, the Grill shares the 56th floor with two other restaurants (serving Japanese and Italian cuisine). At the Grill you can feast on a great seafood platter or unbelievably tender steak.

The three-in-one part of Fodor's summary gave me false hopes...would have loved to get access to all three cuisines/menus. Too bad. It being a steakhouse, the menu was on the unadventurous side. Corn on the cob for 80RMB, anyone? Wish I knew "open kitchen" in this case meant stinking up your clothes somewhat. My steak, tenderloin done rare, was juicy but not "unbelievably" so. The pickled vegetables I felt were an odd pairing. We enjoyed their Italian reds, though the champagne I wanted to start with they were out of. Aside from the food: lights in the restaurant were much too brightly reflected in the windows, detracting from the view; given the open/circular floor plan, there were quite a few tourists walking by the tables and squeezing past you (w/ a loud "sorry!") to take pictures - not conducive to, say, intimate couple-y dinners or business deals. The price range would have you expecting slightly more in terms of privacy/exclusivity.
