A favorite haunt for celebrities, T8 has garnered its share of headlines for its stunning interior and inspired contemporary cuisine. The restaurant occupies a traditional shikumen house within Xintiandi and has modernized the space with raw stone floors, carved-wood screens, and imaginative lighting that transforms shelves full of glasses into a modern-art sculpture. The show kitchen turns out such Thai- and Chinese-inspired dishes as a slow-cooked, Sichuan-flavored lamb pie, and nori-wrapped sashimi-grade tuna. Like the clientele, the wine list is exclusive, with many labels unavailable elsewhere in Shanghai.

Very glad that we made it to T8 after eating Chinese food for a week. It feels very Asian, warm and inviting. We went for the seasonal tasting menu and had a wonderful selection of different tastes and textures. Some very hard to find boutique wines on the list with some old vintages of opus one as well. Established and consisted place and definitive our pick in Shanghai!
