Bali Laguna

Bali Laguna Review

Overlooking the lily pond in Jing'an Park and with interior and alfresco dining, Bali Laguna is a popular choice for couples. Balinese music piped along the statue- and palm-lined walkway sets the mood even before the sarong-clad hostess welcomes you inside the traditional, three-story, Indonesian-style house or to a pond-side table. The menu is heavy on seafood, such as grilled fish cakes and chili crab, which captures the fire of Indonesian cuisine. Quench it with a Nusa Dua Sunset or other Bali-inspired cocktail.

So-so food (bit of a shame in a city like Shanghai), but yes it's nice pond-side. An inexpensive/un-glitzy night out for couples compared to other establishments frequented by expats - 400RMB easily feeds two.

We loved Bali Laguna! The atmosphere is really nice, especially outdoors in the evening by the little lake. Good place for couples. The food wasn't so good (we've had much better South East Asian food elsewhere), but the waiters were nice. Love the sarongs. This is definitely one of Shanghai's gems. Bit hard to find, though, so get clear directions.
