Jing An Hotel Review

The weekly chamber-music concert in its lobby is just one example of how the Jing An Hotel has retained its elegance and charm after 70 years. In a 1½-acre garden, the Spanish-style main building's lobby has beautiful stained-glass windows. The ornate upstairs dining rooms often host prominent city officials. Although facilities are lacking compared to the newer hotels in town and the rooms in the Jing An New Building should be avoided at all costs (bathrooms are barely the size of a closet), the hotel's proximity to the subway line and its lush Former French Concession setting make this oft-overlooked property a winner.
