Designed as serviced apartments for expats, the Somerset Grand's suites are great for families wanting extra space plus the usual hotel amenities. The twin 34-story towers have 334 one- to three-bedroom suites, ranging from 890 to 2,500 square feet. (One-bedroom suites have only one king-size bed.) The units feel homey, with blue-and-pink floral comforters and rugs, and a small kitchen. Kids can burn off steam at the pool and in the playroom. There's a great French restaurant and coffee shop on the grounds; the hotel is two blocks from the restaurants, shops, and movie theater at Xintiandi and 10 minutes to the subway.
