Oriental Pearl Tower

Oriental Pearl Tower Review

This quirky tower (1,535 feet or 468 meters) has become the pride and joy of the city, a symbol of the brashness and glitz of today's Shanghai. This UFO-like structure is especially kitschy at night, when it flashes with colored lights against the classic beauty of the Bund. Its three spheres are supposed to represent pearls (as in "Shanghai, Pearl of the Orient"). An elevator takes you to observation decks in the tower's three spheres. Go to the top sphere for a 360-degree bird's-eye view of the city, or grab a bite in the Tower's revolving restaurant. On the bottom floor is the Shanghai History Museum.
