The Shangri-La occupies one of the most prized spots in Shanghai: overlooking the Huangpu River, opposite the Bund, and near the Pearl Tower. The hotel's breathtaking water's-edge views, white-glove service, and spacious rooms attract a mix of business and leisure travelers. The hotel's two towers make it the largest luxury hotel in Shanghai, with almost 1,000 guest rooms and 10 dining options. Although rooms in Tower 2, behind the original hotel, have amenities like generously sized plasma TVs, many return guests prefer the rooms in Tower 1 for their unobstructed views of the Bund. This is not the newest or most high-tech hotel, but service is tops, and that alone brings in its share of Shangri-La devotees.
