Once Shanghai's tallest building, the 20-story Park Hotel has long since been eclipsed by other hotels whose glory days are present instead of past. Dating from 1934, this piece of history overlooking People's Park still has great views and a musty charm, particularly in its restored marble lobby. Rooms have been renovated and thus are clean and bright, with prints of historic buildings from around the world, but the hotel's limited facilities have definitely slipped to second-rate. If you can get a good rate here, the hotel offers solid value in the most central location possible.
