Donghu Hotel

70 Donghu Lu, Shanghai, Shanghai Shi, 200031, China

Just off the frenzied shopping street of Huaihai Lu, the Donghu Hotel remains one of Shanghai's best-preserved hotels from the city's heyday in the 1920s. Its annex, the Donghu Hotel Guesthouse, at 7 Donghu Rd., is a newer Chinese-style business hotel. Both have an unbeatable location that puts you right in the middle of the Former French Concession, so you have easy access to a host of restaurants and boutiques. The rooms in the main building, though a bit musty, surround you in historical grandeur. In the annex, the rooms are new but plain and lack character. Beds throughout the hotel are on the hard side.
