Restrooms in Hong Kong

Restrooms

Hong Kong was once renowned for its lack of public restrooms, but things are improving. When sightseeing in the city, dip into malls or the lobby of big international hotels to use their facilities. Tipping attendants HK$2-HK$5 is the norm. Many Westerners turn up their noses at squatter loos, but the well-maintained public ones are often cleaner than their Western equivalents, not to mention good for your thigh muscles. Since SARS and bird flu the government has been particularly active in keeping public facilities clean, but toilet paper is still hit-and-miss: bring your own tissues in case.
