Fa Zu Jie
Fa Zu Jie Review
This place is good, really, really good. Tucked away in a nondescript building in a hidden alley off Lan Kwai Fong, this reservations-only private kitchen plates up inventive French-inspired Shanghainese dishes that are prepped in a polished open kitchen. The prix-fixe menu is tweaked on a regular basis but you'll probably be treated to trademark items such as drunken quail (cooked in Chinese Hua Diao wine) served with al dente Sanuki udon, and plump scallops slicked in shrimp roe oil. The dining room has only a handful of tables so try to book a few weeks in advance if you can.
