The Fleming Review

A fresh face in a neighborhood known for sleazy clubs and bars offers views of the bustling streets below from clean rooms decorated in subdued earth tones, and provides some nice amenities, too, including free wine in the evenings. Standard rooms come with only double beds, so you will have to upgrade for twins; the same applies if you want a kitchenette. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is nearby, and surrounding elevated walkways provide easy access to Wan Chai ferry pier.

    Second Home in Hong Kong

As I left The Fleming Hotel in Hong Kong for my latest stay in June, it almost felt like leaving my second home. How can a hotel make you feel that way? Well let’s take a look.

First of all when you come home hopefully everyone there is happy to see you and they know your name. The Fleming does that!

Second, when you get home, your body relaxes after a long day. Every time I step into the lobby of The Fleming I do relax and know that whatever I need is here.

Third, home and family are suppose to go the “extra mile” for you and The Fleming does just that. Whether it is finding you a taxi when no empty cab is around, calling for you to make an appointment when you need a person who speaks Chinese, writing the address you are going to in Chinese just in case the taxi driver doesn’t understand in English and much more. Everyone at the Fleming makes every effort to help you!!

For everyone who wants to hear about the regular hotel ammenities here is my take on The Fleming. Yes, it is clean, and safe and pleasant. The breakfast in the morning in the small restaurant is full of choices and again great service. I always start my day in Hong Kong on a full stomach. And although I have never needed to ask for special dietary needs or choices I have noticed they always accomidate others who requested such items.

Yes the restaurant is small so for other meals or room service the menu is limited but everything I have ever ordered was fresh and delicious espcially the tapas with prawns and garlic! Fantastic!

In the evening the hotel offers free wine in the lobby for hotel guests which is a great time to meet and chat with other travelers staying at the Fleming. I have met the most interesting people in those evening hours. We share favorite restaurants and I love tell the ladies where to go to get a great deal on scarves for their friends.

I’m sure there are other wonderful hotels in Hong Kong but I keep returning to The Fleming. It is my home in Hong Kong and I look forward to returning again.
