Tung Chung New Town
Tung Chung New Town Review
Looking at the tower blocks and perfectly planned avenues of Tung Chung New Town, home to around 80,000 people, it's hard to imagine that only 15 years ago this was a small village. Over the MTR station is a mall filled with outlet stores for big local brands.
All that remains of the old Tung Chung is the hulking granite Tung Chung Fort. The first fortification on this spot was built during the Song Dynasty; the current structure dates from 1832. Tung Chung Rd., Lantau. www.lcsd.hk/CE/Museum/Monument/en/monuments_07.php. Wed.-Mon. 10-5.
