Tung Chung New Town

Fodor's Review:

Looking at the tower blocks and perfectly planned avenues of Tung Chung New Town, home to around 80,000 people, it's hard to imagine that only 15 years ago this was a small village. Over the MTR station is a mall filled with outlet stores for big local brands. All that remains of the old Tung Chung is the hulking granite Tung Chung Fort (Tung Chung Rd., Lantau. Wed.-Mon. 10-5). The first fortification on this spot was built during the Song Dynasty; the current structure dates from 1832.
