Fodor's Review:

Whether you enter Sha Tin by road or rail, you'll be amazed to find this metropolis in the middle of the New Territories. One of the so-called "new towns," Sha Tin underwent a population explosion starting in the mid-1980s that transformed it from a town of 30,000 to a city of more than a half million. The biggest attraction is the racecourse, which is newer and larger than the one in Happy Valley. In fact it's one of the world's most modern courses and, as such, is the venue for all championship events, including some equestrian events for the 2008 Olympics. The easiest way to get here is by taxi, or you can catch the MTR to Kowloon Tong and transfer to the KCR train, which stops at the Racecourse Station on race days. A walkway from it takes you directly to the track.
