Fodor's Finds Hotels
Book NowJIA Review
The first boutique hotel designed by Philippe Starck in Asia is a destination in itself, beginning with the dark lobby and its surreal silver, antiquelike sculptural furniture. This is also where guests can enjoy complimentary afternoon tea and cakes, evening wine, and soft drinks. Accommodations consist of studios or one-bedroom suites, plus two-bedroom duplex penthouses. All rooms are decorated in airy white, with sheer-curtain separations and marble-finish bathrooms and kitchenettes equipped with dining tables and cookware. Hot breakfast is served downstairs in the all-wood decor of Madera tapas and wine bar, while the award-winning Drawing Room restaurant offers contemporary Italian cuisine in an art gallery setting. Guests receive free access to the California Fitness gym around the corner, as well as an exclusive Insider Access Card, which gives membership privileges at several nightlife venues, not to mention evening harbor tours on the famous Aqua Luna junk.

Welcome Home
The first Philippe-Starck-designed boutique hotel in Asia takes its name from jia, the Mandarin word for "home." Lucite chairs, gilded Louis XIV-style sofas, and Eames-inspired chairs dot the wee hotel's public spaces and its 54 plush guest rooms. In The Drawing Room, pretty young things in little black dresses and slim dark suits tuck into modern Italian fare and sip colorful cocktails by a candlelit pond, all set to a soundtrack of JIA's own choosing. The mix of tracks will simultaneously help pump you up for a night out in the hotel's happening Causeway Bay neighborhood or soothe your frazzled nerves after a day of pavement-pounding.
