This redbrick Victorian in the Sheung Wan district was built in 1906 and was originally used as a produce market. These days the first floor is filled with unmemorable shops selling crafts, toys, jewelry, collectibles; second-floor shops sell a remarkable selection of fabric. A more surreal experience is lunch, dinner, or high tea in the Grand Stage Chinese restaurant and ballroom on the top floor. After a great Chinese meal you can while away the afternoon with the old-timers trotting around the room to a live band belting out the cha-cha and tango.
