Fodor's Review

Little wonder this upscale YMCA is a popular budget choice: it sits next to the mighty Peninsula and across from the city's three biggest museums on Tsim Sha Tsui's harborfront, and most rooms have at least partial harbor views. If you're seriously watching pennies, you can crash in one of seven four-bed dorm rooms for $300 a night. Amenities include a rooftop garden, children's playground, chapel, hair salon, and bookshop, and good health and fitness facilities that include

a large indoor pool, squash courts, and climbing walls.

Great place in Hong Kong

Recently stayed in the Salisbury with our daughter, her husband and our 3 grandchildren. It was a wonderful quiet haven in the bustle of Hong Kong -- convenient to things in Kowloon and with a wonderful view of the harbor. Service was great; rooms were comfortable and extremely clean. The YMCA helped make our stay in HongKong memorable. We had an early flight out and they even fixed us an ample box lunch before we left.

A Great Deal

The Salisbury combines a great location, nice (if dated) rooms, and low prices be one of the best deals in Hong Kong. A quick walk from the Star Ferry Terminal, the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station, many of Kowloon's best sights, and innumerable restaurants and shops. The service is friendly, although much of the staff speaks little to no English.
