Possibly due to its being part of a chain operating throughout China, this cavernous Middle Eastern restaurant gets written up a lot, and is crowded with Westerners on most nights. But despite the authentic Arabic decor, belly dancers, and menu filled with kebabs and babaghanoush, A Thousand and One Nights seems to be coasting on reputation, and Guangzhou has better Arab fare by far. But if you're at the China Hotel and don't feel like hopping in a taxi to the Nile, you could do worse than a meal here.
