GITIC Plaza

Fodor's Review:

The Tianhe District is Guangzhou's newly designated business and upmarket residential area. It is the site of the new Guangzhou East Railway Station, the terminus for Hong Kong trains, a world-class sports stadium, and a growing number of office/apartment skyscrapers. Among the buildings is the 80-story GITIC Plaza which soars 396 meters (1,300 feet) and is China's second-tallest building. The Guangzhou East Railway Station (Linhe Lu), with its vast entrance hall is worth a peak, even if you don't have a train to catch.

A hub for most of Guangzhou's sporting events, the Tianhe Stadium Complex (Huanshi Dong Lu, East Guangzhou) has two indoor and two outdoor arenas that are equipped for international soccer matches, track-and-field competitions, as well as pop concerts and large-scale ceremonies. The complex is surrounded by a pleasantly landscaped park, with outdoor cafés and tree-shaded benches. The park includes a bowling center with 38 lanes and lots of video games.
