Have an espresso in Chinese colonial splendor at the Shamian Island Blenz, across from Customs Hotel in a building dating back to the late Qing Dynasty. Comfy couches, strong coffee, and free Internet access are available in this old building that once housed Guangzhou's U.S. Bank in the pre-revolutionary days. Right on the park, Blenz is a great place to watch people practice tai chi and traditional Chinese fan dancing.
